Then came <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/development-on-the-next-mass-effect-is-ending-ea-is-shutting-down-rpg-veteran-bioware-to-align-talent-and-investments-where-we-see-the-greatest-opportunities-for-players-and-long-term-growth">the closure of BioWare</a>, <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/while-ea-shuts-down-bioware-developers-of-the-sims-skate-and-battlefield-say-theyve-also-lost-their-jobs">layoffs across other EA studios</a>, <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/ai-is-a-technofascist-anti-human-and-anti-art-project-says-creator-of-lefty-tech-satire-future-no-thanks-before-explaining-why-he-used-it-anyway">further depressing genAI revelations</a>, <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/we-made-a-very-difficult-decision-australian-indie-showcase-freeplay-reject-antisemitism-claims-after-delisting-a-jewish-sponsor-who-was-allegedly-accused-of-being-a-zionist">allegations of antisemitism at indie gaming events</a>, <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/resident-evil-makers-capcom-reveal-data-breach-has-affected-over-11-million-capcom-id-accounts-warn-against-potential-phishing-emails">a big Capcom data breach</a>, and yet more <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/arkane-survival-negotiations-reportedly-seeing-several-forms-of-takeover-considered-ahead-of-november-deadline-as-marvels-blade-production-nears-end">worrying tidyings about Arkane</a>.</p> <p>I rescind my earlier observation: I would like to be a worm. A happy little worm, tunnelling after golden apples in the moist and forgiving earth, where there are no emails or press releases at all. The only thing I have to worry about down here is my butt growing so big I get stuck behind it. And also getting chopped in half by sliding doors, but it turns out this may actually help with the first problem.
